Yes, Australian travellers need to fill out and submit a Travel Health Declaration prior to arriving in the Maldives.

No, visitors from Australia don’t need proof of vaccination if travelling to the Maldives.

Do I need proof I've had a negative test before departing Maldives?

Yes, Australian tourists visiting the Maldives need to present a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test result taken within 96 hours of arrival unless one of the following exceptions applies to you:

  • Citizen of the Maldives
  • Holder of an employment visa
  • Holder of a dependent visa
  • Holder of a student visa
  • Holder of a marriage visa
  • Children below the age of one
  • Flight crew who arrive on a general declaration

As of 20 April 2021, Australians who have received their second dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine two weeks before arriving in the Maldives do not have to show a negative test result upon entry - the completion document must be uploaded into the IMUGA portal containing the following information:

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • Both vaccination dates
  • Vaccination brands
  • The authority that administered the vaccination

Do I need to quarantine when I arrive in Maldives?

No, Aussies tourists are not required to quarantine upon arrival in the Maldives unless they fall under one of the categories below. Australian visitors that fall into one of the following but have received both shots of the COVID-19 vaccine are also exempt from quarantine.

  • You're a traveller arriving from the UK
  • You're not a tourist
Australians who are included in these exclusions must register within 24 hours of arriving in the Maldives and complete a 10-day quarantine at their residence.
