Paramount Plus Australia: Price, content, features and more
The rebranded service is here with a massive library and plenty more to come. How will it affect 10 All Access and Stan?

Paramount Plus, the newest player on an increasingly crowded streaming landscape, is here. ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand's subscription video-on-demand streaming service, 10 All Access, rebranded as Paramount Plus in August 2021 to align with the platform globally.
However, it's a bit more sophisticated than just a rebrand. The launch of Paramount Plus has involved a rapid growth of its library with both new and legacy content. It will also become the home of Australian football after securing the A-League, Socceroos and Matildas rights.
But what exactly does the rebrand mean for consumers? Here's the lowdown.
How much does Paramount Plus cost?
While 10 All Access has been priced at $9.99 per month, Paramount Plus is slightly cheaper at $8.99 per month in Australia. By way of comparison, Disney+ now costs $11.99 a month, the cheapest Netflix plan is $10.99 a month, while Stan and BINGE plans start at $10 a month.
Paramount Plus also comes with an annual subscription option that costs $89.99. If you opt for this option you can save $17.89 or 15% annually.
In the US, the service costs US$9.99 a month to stream ad-free. So it's actually cheaper to watch in Australia (hooray). The US has also recently added a US$4.99/month plan that includes ads and limits the content available to watch. The ad supported plan wasn't available in Australia at launch, it is currently all ad-free.
Does Paramount Plus have a free trial?
Yes, Paramount Plus has a 7-day free trial for new users. It's not yet known if former 10 All Access customers will be eligible for the free trial. We have a step by step guide to signing up to Paramount Plus if you need help.
What can I watch on Paramount Plus?
Paramount has stated its Australian library will have "more than 20,000 episodes of hit shows and blockbuster movies", so a huge amount of content is now available. In addition to the entertainment library, Paramount Plus will also bring sports streaming after landing a smorgasbord of Australian football.
The current 10 All Access library will migrate to Paramount Plus. So you will still be able to binge your way through entire seasons of NCIS, Madam Secretary or Elementary. 10 All Access's catalogue features more than 10,000 episodes from CBS, The CW and Network 10, as well as original series like The Good Fight, The Twilight Zone, Tooning Out The News, Interrogation, Why Women Kill and Tell Me A Story.
The new platform also features movies from Paramount Pictures and premieres and box sets from subsidiaries like Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Showtime, CBS, Sony Pictures Television, the Smithsonian Channel and Paramount Network. It is also reclaiming titles from competitors like Stan.
Blockbuster franchises like The Godfather, The Dark Night Trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Mission: Impossible, Indiana Jones and Transformers will also be on the platform. On the TV shows front there are complete series of South Park, Catfish, Teen Mom, Dexter and all 40 seasons of Survivor US.

Originals and reboots
Additionally, ViacomCBS announced 2 new original series for Paramount Plus in Australia. Spy drama Lioness will follow a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organisation down from within. The Offer will be a scripted series based on Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy's extraordinary, never-revealed experiences of making The Godfather. It has also revived Australian drama series Five Bedrooms.
In early 2021, Paramount Plus announced a wide slate of upcoming original content set to premiere on the service in the following years. The list includes a Criminal Minds limited revival series, a Halo drama based on the iconic Xbox franchise and TV adaptations of classic movies Flashdance, Love Story, The Italian Job, Fatal Attraction and Parallax View.
We're also getting a Frasier revival with Kelsey Grammer. There will be kids' content as well, including iCarly and a Rugrats reboots.
Paramount Plus X Showtime
Paramount Plus will stream the hour-long drama First Ladies, a new Showtime series starring Viola Davis, who is set to play Michelle Obama. As the name suggests, the show will focus on some of America's most charismatic and complex first ladies, with the freshman season featuring Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford as well.
In fact, Paramount Plus is set to become the exclusive home of Showtime premieres in Australia. As mentioned this is a blow to Stan, which was streaming Showtime series based on a long-running deal.
Stan is likely to lose the entire Showtime back catalogue, which includes popular series Yellowstone and titles such as Dexter and Californication. Paramount Plus has already taken 15 shows from Stan.
What's coming to Paramount Plus?
Already impressed? These are only the highlights. The company is investing big in original content, so we can expect even more titles to be announced soon. We do know some dates for new originals and exclusives already though.

Paramount Plus football streaming
When we say Paramount Plus is the new home of Australian football we really aren't exaggerating. All of the A-League, W-League, Socceroos and Matildas matches (excluding Olympics and World Cup) will call Paramount Plus home. The full list of football content on Paramount Plus is below.

As part of the ViacomCBS deal with the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), a weekly Saturday night A-League fixture will be on Channel 10. The W-League will be simulcast on 10Play and have 1 Sunday game per week on 10Bold.
It's not yet known how the Socceroos and Matildas fixtures will be split between Paramount Plus and Channel 10. We're expecting them to be simulcast between the pair the same way Stan Sport does with Wallabies matches.

What devices can I use with Paramount Plus?
Paramount Plus is available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV (Sony Bravia), Fetch TV, Telstra TV and Amazon Fire TV. That's an improvement on its former service 10 All Access which didn't have Telstra TV, Amazon or Smart TV compatibility.

At launch in Australia Paramount Plus isn't on either of the new gaming consoles, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. However, you can also access Paramount Plus via Apple TV's channels function which will give you a workaround to watch on your PS4.
Like every other streaming launch Paramount Plus has communicated to Finder that it plans to add more devices ASAP including Samsung and LG Smart TVs. But without a confirmed date we have seen other streaming services add these after a week and others years later.
How many streams can you use on Paramount Plus?
You will have the option of streaming on up to 3 devices or screens with your Paramount Plus account.
When did Paramount Plus launch in Australia?
Paramount Plus launched in Australia on Wednesday 11 August. Having already gone live in the US, Canada and Latin America on 4 March 2021 there weren't too many surprises on what to expect. However, it does still differ from the US service. You can see a comparison of the Australian and US Paramount Plus services here.
Why did Paramount Plus come to Australia?
The move came after the company had already rebranded CBS All Access, its US and Canadian streaming service, to Paramount Plus in March 2021. In other words, the name change aims to better reflect the expanded content line-up following the Viacom-CBS merger in 2019. In Australia, Paramount Plus will be the exclusive home of Showtime premieres.
"Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling," said Bob Bakish, ViacomCBS chief executive. The name change will mean the company can establish one global streaming brand – no more CBS All Access in the US or Canada and 10 All Access in Australia.
It may also make the platform more broadly appealing, since CBS is usually associated with an older audience in the US and doesn't have as much brand recognition overseas. Oh and adding a "+" sign has basically become the norm for new streamers – see Apple TV+, Disney+, the US's ESPN+ and so on.
Should I get Paramount Plus?
Maybe. If you already have 10 All Access, the rebrand is good news, as it means you'll have access to much more classic and new content. Considering the sheer size of the library and with fresh content to come, Paramount Plus might be a good fit for you depending on your current services and streaming needs.
