Expert review

The NAB Qantas Rewards Premium is suited to frequent travellers who want to be rewarded for their everyday spending with points and some modest extra perks. The 65,000 bonus points offer gives you enough for a return business class flight from Sydney to Adelaide (55,200 points). You could also redeem your points for $300 worth of Woolworths Group digital gift cards (a total of 62,140 points for one $250 gift card and one $50 gift card) through the Qantas Store. However, you'll pretty much always get better value when you use your points for travel.

How to apply

You can apply for the NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card online in 15 minutes and receive a response within 60 seconds. If you're approved, you'll receive your card in up to five business days.

Before you get started, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements and have the necessary information to complete your application.

Eligibility criteria

  • Residency. You can apply if you're an Australian citizen or permanent resident. If you are not a citizen or permanent resident, you will need to have an acceptable visa. Many visas are acceptable but the following are not: Visitor Visa (exception, a Special Category Visa - NZ Citizen is acceptable), Working Holiday, Student, Exchange/gap year, Transit/short stay/seasonal, and Bridging.
  • Eligible balance transfer debt. You can request to transfer up to 90% of your approved credit limit from Australian non-NAB credit card accounts.

Card benefits

  • Bonus Qantas Points offer. Earn 65,000 bonus Qantas Points when you get approved for a new card and spend $2,500 on eligible purchases within the first 60 days. These points will be credited to your account within 3 months of meeting the spend requirement. There is no specified expiry date for this offer but NAB may withdraw or vary it at any time.
  • Earn Qantas Points as you spend. You will earn 0.66 points per $1 on eligible purchases for the first $3,000 spent per statement period. For spending between $3,001 and $6,000 in a statement period, you will earn 0.33 points per $1 spent on your eligible purchases.

Rates & fees

  • Annual fee. This card charges a standard annual fee of $250.
  • Purchase rate. Your purchases will collect a standard variable interest rate of 19.99% p.a.

    Hi There,

Is there a online calculator I could use to work out how much points I could potentially earn from the amount I spend. I am planning on spending around $8000.

      Hi Paul,

I’m afraid that there’s no available online calculator to compute points. Although, this is how you may compute your $8,000 spending, manually:

      Notes:
You will earn 0.66 points per $1 on eligible purchases for the first $3,000 spent per statement period.
For spending between $3,001 and $6,000 in a statement period, you will earn 0.33 points per $1 spent on your eligible purchases.
There’s a cap of 3,000 points for every statement period.

      How to compute:
      0.66 x $3,000 = 1,980 points (earned in the first statement period)
      0.33 x $5,000 = 1,650 points (earned in your next statement period)

You can also log into your NAB online banking account where you can conveniently view your points and redeem them when you’re ready.

      Cheers,
      Nikki

Hi, I’m about to travel interstate. If I hire a car using my nab Qantas card, will my complimentary travel insurance give me total insurance protection, or do I need to purchase additional insurance from the car hire company?

      Hi Mackey,

Thanks for your inquiry. Please note that we are not affiliated with NAB or any company we feature on our site and so we can only offer a general advice.

Yes, NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Credit Card includes Interstate flight insurance under their complimentary travel insurance. You may be covered for rental vehicle insurance excess if you rent a car. There are more insurances covered for this card as stated on this page.

We suggest contacting NAB directly to confirm this info or visit their official site.

      Hope this helps.

      Best regards,
      Rench

      Hi Kylie,

      Thanks for your question.

Kindly note that with this credit card, the Qantas Points are earned on net purchases during a card account statement period. Your total points earned in a statement period will be credited to your Qantas Membership Account within two business days following the closing date of each statement period.

You can check the total points you have accumulated by logging in to your Qantas frequent flyer account.

      Cheers,
      Anndy
