Types of ME credit cards
ME offers only one credit card: the ME Frank Credit Card. Find out about this low rate card option below.
Low rate credit cards
A typical low rate card charges a low ongoing rate on purchases, but usually charges a higher rate on cash advances. However, the ME Frank credit card offers the same low rate of 11.99% p.a. on purchases and cash advances, which is a plus if you want to keep your interest costs to a minimum. The card doesn't attract any ongoing annual fees and offers up to 55 interest-free days when you pay your balance in full by the end of the statement period.
The benefits of banking with ME
The ME credit card offers a variety of perks and here’s what cardholders can look forward to when using their Frank card:
Low interest rate
ME Frank credit card’s low interest rate of 11.99% p.a. applies to purchases and cash advances alike. However, it's important to note that cash advances will also collect a cash advance fee. Cardholders can also save on interest costs with up to 55 interest-free days.
No annual fee
As well as competitive interest rates, you can also save with no annual fee for the life of the card.
The Mastercard connect
The ME Frank credit card comes with an affiliation to Mastercard, so you can look forward to using your card wherever Mastercard is accepted internationally. While you can use your card at EFTPOS terminals and ATMs, you can also use it for online and over the phone transactions. You can also take advantage of Mastercard PayPass to make contactless payments for purchases under $100.
ATM access
If you ever need cash in a hurry, you can turn to any ATM that displays the Mastercard logo. You can withdraw cash for no ATM fee at ME ATMs. ME also has an ATM partnership with the Westpac Group, which gives you ATM fee-free access to over 3,000 Westpac, St.George, BankSA, and Bank of Melbourne ATMs across Australia. Please note that cash advance fees and interest rates apply to ATM withdrawals made with your ME credit card.
Additional cards
You can get up to 8 additional cards linked to your primary account. You continue getting a single statement each month and you remain liable for all purchases made using additional cards linked to your account. To request an additional cardholder, you can download and fill in a form from the ME website to fax or email a request.

Do I need to have a savings account with ME to apply for a credit card?
Hi Rose-Maree,
Thanks for getting in touch! A savings account is not necessary to apply for a credit card at ME. You can find the eligibility and required documents above for reference. Once approved, you can expect to receive your new credit card within the next seven business days. You’ll then need to activate your card by choosing a 4 digit PIN. You can do this via the ME internet banking service or over the phone.
As a friendly reminder, check the eligibility requirements of the card before proceeding with your application. Also, read about its features and benefits and see how it fits your financial needs. Additionally, it’s helpful to review the PDS and Terms & Conditions of the card before fully committing to the card. You may also reach out to the bank if you have any clarifications.
With care,
Nikki
I’m a pensioner. Own my own home outright and make $35,000 per annum. Have had an account with ME in the past and have an excellent credit rating. I would like to apply for a credit card for $3,000 is this possible?
Hi Lyn,
Thank you for getting in touch with Finder.
You may apply for an ME credit card since you’re an existing customer. Please note that when you apply for a card, the issuer will decide on your credit limit based on a variety of factors including your income, credit history, personal circumstances, and sometimes even the card that you choose. As credit limits are subject to the credit card company’s lending criteria, terms and conditions, you won’t know your exact limit until your application is approved.
Since you mentioned that you’re a pensioner, you may compare pensioners’ credit cards. Please make sure though to read the eligibility criteria, features, and details of the card, as well as the relevant PDS/ T&Cs of the card before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
Cheers,
Jeni
I have had the misfortune of my ME Mastercard, InterestME and Everyday Saving account cards being declined while on a cruise ship off China and also in Shanghai earlier this year. A phone call from the cruise ship to ME Bank resulted in no evident problem with my card as ME were notification of overseas travel. All cards functioned OK when back in Aust. Is China area and proximity a problem for ME Bank cards?
Hi Gary,
Thank you for your comment.
I understand the inconvenience you have faced. You can read our guide on why card transactions are being declined.
Here are the 5 reasons also on why your credit card is declined:
1. You hit the road. – making purchases the same day in distant locations, your card issuer may not know you’re traveling and could decline the purchase
2. You’re paying a foreign company. – you’re traveling overseas, especially in a country where card fraud is more prevalent, or if you’re making a payment to a business based overseas, that could get your card flagged
3. Your limit was cut. – you got a limit decrease on a credit card that you forgot about, or if you missed the notification, you could be denied if a purchase would push you over that new limit
4. Your funds are tied up in a hold. – Businesses including gas stations, hotels, and rental car companies often put a hold for a certain amount onto your card when you initiate a purchase
5. You’re spending big. – large purchases like electronics, appliances, or an expensive vacation all could trigger a decline if it’s outside your normal spending pattern
Still best to contact your card issuer to discuss this matter. I hope this helps.
Regards,
Jhezelyn

They are the one company that don’t do it. They need to re-think how to change things. Other banks do it Westpac,NAB,Commonwealth etc. They have lost me as there customer, once I get my card paid out, I will close my again
Hi! I have an ME Bank credit card. I’m just wondering if cash advance will also have 55 days interest free period?
Hi Lamia.
Thank you for inquiring.
The ME Bank frank Credit Card’s up to 55 days interest free offer generally applies on purchases, not on cash advances.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
