Types of Bankwest Credit Cards

The range of Bankwest credit cards include low rate, no annual fee, rewards, frequent flyer and business options. There are also cards that provide additional perks for eligible cardholders, such as complimentary insurance and no international transaction fees.

  • Balance transfer credit cards

When you transfer your existing credit card balance to a new Bankwest credit card with a balance transfer offer, you can get an introductory low or 0% p.a. interest rate on the debt. This allows you to save money on interest charges and pay down your debt faster during the introductory period. After that, a standard interest rate will apply to any debt remaining from the transfer.

  • Low rate credit cards

Bankwest low rate credit cards offer a low, ongoing interest rate on purchases. If you carry a balance from month-to-month, this low rate can help you save money on interest charges when compared to regular credit cards.

  • No annual fee credit cards

If you don't use your card regularly or want to cut down on card costs, you may want to consider a Bankwest credit card with no annual fee. This type of card is designed to offer affordable access to credit by not charging a yearly account fee. However, as these cards come with higher interest rates than other Bankwest products, you might want to consider a low rate card if you're partial to carrying your balance.

  • Rewards credit cards

Bankwest rewards credit cards let you earn Bankwest More Rewards points on all eligible purchases. You can then redeem these points for rewards such as travel, gift cards and merchandise from the Bankwest More Rewards store. Rewards credit cards usually come with higher annual fees, so make sure you're taking advantage of the perks to help offset the cost of the card.

  • Frequent flyer credit cards

Bankwest frequent flyer credit cards earn you Qantas Points on all your eligible purchases, with Classic, Platinum and World Mastercard accounts available. Depending on the card you choose, you could also enjoy additional benefits such as free worldwide emergency card replacement, complimentary overseas travel insurance and no foreign transaction fees on overseas purchases.

  • Business credit cards

Bankwest offers a range of business credit cards designed to suit different needs, with features ranging from interest-free days, low rates and low annual fees to rewards programs. There are also options to get additional cards for your employees.

The benefits of banking with Bankwest

Some of the benefits of getting a credit card from Bankwest include:

  • Digital card

You can activate your card and view your account details through the Bankwest app as soon as your application is approved thanks to the digital card feature. This gives you a way start using your account while you wait for the physical card to come in the mail.

  • Bankwest Platinum and World credit cards — travel insurance

If you have a Bankwest Platinum or World Mastercard, you can get complimentary overseas travel insurance when you have an open, eligible card. Your spouse and/or children can also get cover if they meet the eligibility requirements. Refer to the Bankwest credit card complimentary insurance booklet on the Bankwest website for more information, or check out our guide for a summary of this cover.

  • Bankwest Platinum and World credit cards — no overseas transaction fee

If you're a frequent traveller or often shop online, you could take advantage of the 0% international transaction fees available with a Bankwest Platinum or World credit card.

  • Worldwide emergency card replacement

Whether you're shopping in Australia or overseas, you'll have the peace of mind of Bankwest's emergency worldwide card replacement. If your card is lost or stolen, call Bankwest and they will block your card and arrange for a new one to be sent out to you.

  • Flexibility of rewards

Bankwest credit cards give you the choice of earning Bankwest More Rewards or Qantas Points for every dollar you spend on eligible purchases. You can then use these reward points to redeem flights or other travel, as well as products and experiences across categories including fashion, technology, homewares, food and wine and entertainment.

  • Mobile wallets and contactless payments

You can make contactless payments with your smartphone when you link your Bankwest credit card to your Google Pay, Apple Pay or Samsung Pay account. You can also purchase a Bankwest Halo payment ring and use it to tap and go at the terminal. Available for $15 and able to be linked to any eligible account, the Halo is waterproof, secure and does not require charging.

      Hello Peter,

      Thanks for your question.

As stated on https://www.finder.com.au/bankwest-platinum-debit-mastercard the Bankwest Platinum Debit MasterCard does not charge any fees when using the card overseas. Though please be reminded that international ATM withdrawals attract overseas withdrawal fee since you are using a non Bankwest ATM machine. All in all that would be the only fee that may only occur when you use your Bankwest Platinum Debit MasterCard overseas.

      Regards,
      Chester

I currently have the Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account and debit MasterCard. Will I still be eligible for the bonus points if I apply for the Bankwest Qantas World MasterCard?

    Thanks.

      Hi Norman,

      Thanks for your question.

Yes, you are still eligible to receive the bonus points that come with Bankwest Qantas World MasterCard even if you currently hold a Bankwest transaction account and a debit card, provided you are able to meet all other eligibility criteria for the offer.

Just to let you know, the bonus offer for the Bankwest Qantas World MasterCard is not available to those who are upgrading from another Bankwest credit card to a Bankwest World MasterCard or those who currently hold a Bankwest Qantas MasterCard credit card or are a Complete Home Loan Package customer.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

    Hi There,

I am currently looking at the Bankwest zero platinum Mastercard but before I change I’m a little cautious of the fees.I own a 28 degrees Mastercard for travel and online purchases but will dump it the moment I decide on another card which is possibly this one. I’m trying to do a proper comparison but finder doesn’t really cater for a side by side comparison between 2 popular, yet, similar cards. Why is that? Finder allows me to do comparisons with other cards but not these 2

    Thanks

      Thank you for your inquiry.

Sorry for the delayed reply. You can actually compare the credit cards free of annual and foreign transaction fees. They are categorised as credit cards with no foreign transaction and $0 annual fees.

Hope this has answered your question.

      Cheers,
